When it came time to put my 16 year old behind the wheel, I was a bit surprised to find that she had no interest in driving whatsoever. I thought about my teen years and anxiously counting the days until I could get my license and roam the roads free as a bird and wondered why she did not feel the same way. I took a look back at my first driving experience and quickly realized why my teen might be apprehensive.

My teacher taught me to drive a land barge of a car by the ‘throw the baby in the pool’ method. Get behind the wheel and go…and for Pete’s sake, don’t hit anything! As we rolled forward in 2500 pounds of 1977 Cadillac all I remembered was hearing my dad scream, “Brake, brake braaaakkkke!” Needless to say, it was just a tad dramatic.

So typical me took a comprehensive look at why and where first time drivers have issues. I broke down the driving experience into sections and we began easily. I had my teen just sit in park and learn to control the accelerator. With her first try stepping on the gas, she revved right up to 3000 rpms and she got startled. Had she been in drive, she would have totally panicked.

We continued to practice, gently getting the accelerator to 1000 rpms, then to 1500, then briefly to 2000 and then smoothly back down again, until she could to it with ease. I said, “See, if you learn to control the accelerator in park then when you finally do put it in drive you’ll feel in control and you won’t need to panic and slam on the brakes.” We practiced for several days, then we moved on to rolling forward on the straight and putting on the brakes. Once we mastered that, THEN we started turns, and so on.

Spiritual development is very similar. You’ve got to break it down into manageable parts or you might get too overwhelmed and panic. Get a good grasp on each part BEFORE you throw that spirituality into overdrive! Learn to breathe, learn to mindfully focus, learn to move consciousness around before you jump into the concepts of time, space, the multi-verse and all things post-life and professional readings.

Waking up one day and saying, I’m going to learn all things spiritual today is like throwing a first time driver behind the wheel and just saying, “Hit the gas, you’ll figure it out as you go. Oh, and don’t hit anything.” – just a tad overwhelming and potentially frustrating. Oh I’m sure it can be done, it’s done all the time, but wading into the pool seems much less stressful than just diving in.

Break each area of your spiritual focus down to manageable parts. Study those parts with multiple teachers, and then move on. In the end you will be left with solid groundwork that will take you to much higher planes of understanding with a heck of a lot less stress.

As a teenager I was convinced by a co-worker to see a psychic and have a reading. To this day I don’t remember a thing about it except for a single fact that made absolutely no sense at the time.

The fact that the psychic knew the particular way I organized my closet would have little bearing on me other than to boost trust that their more esoteric guidance was just as correct.

There is a time and a place for a reading chock full of validators and there’s a time and place for a reading full of higher guidance. Are the Best Psychics Antisocial?

Maybe. But, let’s explore why. Professional psychic mediums have to be prepared to deal with all sorts of situations that may arise stemming from their career path. Sometimes their belief systems are attacked by people who do not take the time to truly understand why they do what they do. This may come from people they hold close, such as family, friends and even significant others. Truth be told, this is only the tip of the iceberg. Ultimately, the best psychics are usually the ones that are distant from people and may even be viewed as “antisocial” or “introverts.”

“What Are Your Weaknesses?”

Do you recall ever being asked this question by the hiring manager during a job interview? The basic strategy was to turn your weakness into a strength by responding with statements such as, “I am a perfectionist,” or “I tend to not stop working.” This is indeed a similar case with a psychic or medium because a common theme is that they feel entirely way too much. Psychics can then find themselves dedicating a big chunk of their lives to solitary confinement. The alone time is needed to center themselves and get in touch with their own emotions while effectively differentiating between personal and external energies. Psychic abilities can be compared to the air bubbles that surface on a still lake. If you sit and stare long enough at the water’s surface, you will eventually see slight movements occurring. These tiny movements end up producing ripples on the surface, even in the tiniest of increments. When comparing this to your sixth sense, or your intuition, think of those air bubbles. Consider them rising to the surface of the water, then think of the ripples created. The same thing happens when your innate intuition rises up within you. Sometimes, you intuition is so very subtle that you barely notice, but remember, psychic information still creates a ripple effect.

So what can you do to strengthen your psychic abilities? Just as you might sit and watch a quiet lake, you must also sit with your intuition in order to notice the tiniest of signals. Make a point each day to sit quietly, alone, and only focus on your senses. Try to absorb everything around you, feeling, smelling, touching, etc. until you have used all of your regular 5 senses. Then, after you have effectively processed your surroundings with your 5 senses, try focusing deeper to access your sixth sense.

If you see, in your mind’s eye (the third eye) an image or a color, make a mental note of it. If you have a feeling course through you, pay attention to it. Now, determine if these new sensations affect your other 5 senses in any way. For example, do you smell anything? Are you hearing a song or a familiar tune? Do you have a different taste in your mouth? Are you feeling any differently, as far as your skin or your body temperature? Every single sense is affected by the other senses, and if you can learn to take notice of how your sixth sense, or your psychic sense, sends information to your other senses, you will begin to strengthen your overall psychic awareness.

Once you have practiced this a bit, begin new challenges and make point of “reprocessing” old actions or tasks using your new awareness. See if you discover anything new while doing daily routines. Open all your senses and attempt to truly connect with everything around you in this newfound way. The goal here is to stimulate your psychic senses, in accordance and in unison with your other 5 senses. You eventually want your psychic senses to be just as strong and “natural” as your other everyday senses.

Scientific research and experiments prove that the brain waves of subjects change when they are exposed to new environments and a variety of experiences. An open-minded person is far more likely to improve their intuitive abilities more rapidly than someone who is not agreeable to new experiences or to change.

Developing your psychic sense is fun and is a natural ability, just like exercising your body at the gym (or in other ways). While physical exercise conditions the body, your psychic workout enhances brain fitness. Both give you the tools to reach new heights and a more well-rounded, healthy lifestyle.

So take your time, relax, and concentrate on just “feeling” all those things that you do not normally take the time to notice or process on a daily basis. Once you begin really focusing on these “extra” sensory observations, you will learn to effectively develop your psychic muscles!
