We have all been conditioned to fear Judgement day at the end of our mortal days.
How are the scales bought into balance after judgement day? We must see who we are at that point, when all the lies that built our earthly life and actions are taken away and we are in the blinding light and love of the creator. We can become broken in our human lives and consequently make horrible choices. All of our lives are built around making sense of our pain in order to survive. When we pass to the other side, we are lovingly taken apart, healed and slowly put back together so that our experiences and choices can be seen with compassion and wisdom.
In the Spiritualist’s tradition the theology is that God, creator of all that is, intended that all the experience, knowledge and understanding we gathered during life be brought with us after physical passing to grow and learn from. Our consciousness survives after the change called death. We bring with us all the experiences that shaped us and the choices and consequences of those choices. Then we review it. All of it. Good, bad or indifferent we will pass into this new existence and be given the opportunity to review our life based on those experiences, how we have used them, and our effect on others and the world in general. Then and only then can we evaluate our worth as a human being.
What is a good life and a poorly lived life? If all of us lived our lives to the best of our abilities with due regard to others, taking into account the trials and tribulations of life, and in the end can live with the consequences and our conscious of what we have done, that is the best we can do. Living a good, successful life has very little to do with fame or fortune, it has to do with the beauty and wealth of your spirit you touched the world with.
This principle expresses the natural law of cause and effect, a law that operates on earth as well as the afterlife. What we do now affects the growth of our Soul. In the afterlife we will be accountable for how we lived our life according to our Soul’s development. If we were meant to learn patience, did we avoid the opportunity or embrace it?
After our passing from physical form, when we are re-united with our Soul and the Creator, we are home, we are valued, our human lives matter. Our experience, knowledge and understanding from our magnificent lives are so very cherished.
Our life’s experiences influenced us, changed us and the people around us. We may have impacted our society as a whole. Our actions were geared to expand the spirit within us. Each action will be considered and valued. Our physical existence and experiences were preparing us for the end of our life. Every experience, thought, feeling, action in that human existence comes with us. It is the celebration of heaven to receive us back home and to hear of our journey and our challenges. Nothing is wasted.
God, or infinite intelligence love and light, is energy and not a corporal being. Let’s talk about compensation and retribution as a simple cause and effect, as in energetic ripples.
The law or principle of Cause and Effect state that every cause has an effect, every effect has its cause. Nothing happens by sheer chance. When we experience what seems like a random event, or even something that seems like a coincidence, it has a cause somewhere. Whether physical or mental or energetic, something set “it” in motion. The effect of one action becomes the cause of another action, creating a chain of events. Everything that happens not only in your life, happens in everyone else’s life. It has a root somewhere.
Every thought and feeling you have, action you take, causes an effect to you, to someone else, or to something else. You must be careful and accept responsibility for everything you do. Your thoughts, intentions, or action are amplified as they move out into the universe and then they return to you with a much more powerful impact.
There is no judgement, punishment, or reward to this process of cause and effect. Whatever you put out comes back to you, amplified. Do what you will and let it harm no one. You can do anything you want, BUT, you must accept, and you will be compelled to accept, the consequence of your actions. If you harm no one, no harm will come to you. This is the law behind the golden rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. So: The next time you resent someone getting away with something “bad,” just wait and watch, and be glad it isn’t you who will have to pay for it later.
The mystical power of creation is at the core of every religion and spiritual belief.
This Creator power is usually personified by the mindset and culture of the time. In some cases, the personification of this power becomes a communally agreed upon religious belief which supports the lifestyle of that culture.
Consistent throughout humanity’s search for meaning and spiritual expression is the mystery of something beyond our individual self. Something within ourselves searches and imagines there is a beginning, a mind, or a presence that is greater than ME. Part of our intuitive being wants to understand and relate to, and even return to, the place I came from.
Humanity has given many names to the source and divinity from where we came. Mother, Father, God Creator of all that is; Infinite Intelligence of love and light; The Creator; Akasha, Yahweh; Abba; Elohim; El Shaddai; Al Quddus; Jehovah. The Jewish tradition has 72 names for god. Each of these names holds a meaning of a specific attribute of God.
Spiritualism’s core belief and philosophy is the acceptance of a Divine Energy. A supreme impersonal Power, everywhere present, manifesting as life, through all forms of organized matter. Though this power is impersonal, our understanding of this source can be gained by our personal journeys and perceptions of this creative force. This force, whatever name given to it, has created all there is and sustains all its creation.
Spiritualists also believe that the “Spirit of God” exists within and around everyone and everything. We are all children of god and so are part of one family. As spiritualists we acknowledge this one source as our Father, Mother, Creator.
This Energy of God the Creator ensures that order and harmony exist, which enables us to thrive in the galaxy in which we live. Without God we are nothing, with God we are everything. God is seen as (and often called by spiritualists) “Essence of Life” with the understanding that all life, not just human life, is important in God’s scheme. This includes all life forms known an unknown. Seeing God as the essence of life brings reassurance that all life is equal. This equality doesn’t stop at Humanity, it extends to all life from single cell amoebas to the most complex of beings.
We may not know how important our relationship is to all other beings as we live out our life, but as Spiritualists this we know for sure: we are being asked to travel on a path of spiritual progression, to strive to improve our own life as well as the lives of all those we meet.
“The Essence of Life” is energy. Conscious, loving, creative energy. This concept speaks not to a human animation of God the Father. This Essence embraces both feminine and masculine, this essence has no separation. Many religions personify God and a being with jealousies, preferences and human-like judgements. This is not the case as seen by spiritualists. Within God are all aspects of natural law that make up creation. These aspects of the Creator are way beyond what our human mind can take in.
Love became the creator with these words. Love desired to experience love and continues to create.
Divine Love created little souls, just like itself. Each soul is unique and individual, ready to grow and learn. Love calls these little souls, I AM.
The creator, Divine Love, made light, space, and form for these souls to grow up in. They could experience their own nature and unique selves in everything the creator made. The souls took many forms as they grew and experienced themselves. The souls were never separate from the Creator Love, no matter what form they chose to take.
The creator’s consciousness became full. All possibilities, all knowing, all thoughts, and all things created fill the consciousness of the creator. Not one thing is forgotten. Love and Creation are all one in the same.
Do you know how a catalytic converter works? It basically takes a substance, connects it with another substance and, in a dramatic chemical reaction, creates a third more useful (or at least tolerable) substance. It basically takes something bad and converts it into something good or at least neutral. So for those who are struggling with the myriad of chaotic and maybe even harmful changes brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, I say try thinking of this chaos as a spiritual catalytic converter.
Think of it this way, the spiritual and soul climate of the world has not been in very good shape for quite a while. It was rapidly declining and polluting the collective consciousness. I think we can all agree on that, can’t we? Now think of all those light workers out there who have been working and battling for raising the collective vibration. Seems like they were fighting a losing battle sometimes, doesn’t it, especially with the onset of the pandemic? But what if, and hear me out, what if the pandemic was like a catalytic converter? What if it’s taking harmful collective negativity, processing it via dramatic change brought on by a pandemic, effectively changing a negative into a positive?
What if the chaos of the pandemic and social unrest/awareness issues is an opportunity for massive positive change? Well, it’s not really a question of what if, it’s a question of…Do you see it yet? And more importantly, are you going to continue to focus on the general spiritual malaise of the collective consciousness or raise your vibration to be part of the catalytic change?
We stand at a spiritual crossroads right now. In the words of Morgan Freeman’s character Red Redding in Shawshank Redemption, “You either get busy living or get busy dying.” We have a choice, get busy making positive change within ourselves, or we get busy letting the negativity consume us until all of humanity is gone.
Sounds like a big job, doesn’t it? But here’s the truth. You aren’t supposed to change the world. You are supposed to change YOU. And while that’s not always an easy task, changing our own personal energy is much easier than changing the entire world. And I’ll give you a little spoiler alert right here: If you change YOU – your energy – you will have already changed the world.
In the book Universal Spiritualism: Spirit Communion in All Ages Among All Nations, WJ Colville describes the levels or layers of heaven. In chapter 19 of this book, The Spirit World—as seen and Described by One Who has Visited It Frequently, Colville speak about the writings of Charles W. Leadbeater. Leadbeater describes the heavenly regions which are “shut out of carnal eyes.”
These heavenly regions are worlds of subtler substance than the physical world, interpenetrating it, and therefore all around us. Heaven is the world of thought, the mental plane, a supreme state of consciousness. Hence the saying “The kingdom of Heaven which is within you.”
Leadbeater describes planes of existence as: an astral plane exists that is a feeling plane; the physical plane, the familiar earth of the senses, the world of action. The physical body is the body of action. And a spiritual plane with the immortal Soul, which lives forever, in the heaven world and communicates with the physical world by means of physical impacts transmitted to the physical brain, then to the astral. Thence to the mental body.
The Soul is the immortal thinker and ego. As Leadbetter traveled up through the seven heavens he sensed a radiance of welcome and an absence of evil and discord. He felt intense bliss. He describes these levels of heaven as this:
The lowest and first heaven is affection for family and friends, unselfish, and mostly focused on the earth plane the spirit just left. The spirits in this first level of heaven think of themselves as still being very much part of earth. They pour love and grace onto those left in earthly world. Those on earthly world receive the benefits of the love showered down upon them. Conscious communication is possible from this layer of heaven.
The second heaven is an anthropomorphic religious devotion. These spirits carry out devotion and adoration of deities from their earthly experience. They perform specific tasks in alignment with the religious beliefs they have carried into heaven with them. These tasks are practiced in this realm. When the spirit is ready to progress they move to the third realm of service. In this second realm your spirit sorts out religious dogma and beliefs that you have held to keep you close to God, however you believed God to be. This is a place, along with the third heavenly realm, of miracles and understanding the true nature of creation. (LOTS of engineers and bishops hang out here for YEARS…)
The third heavenly realm is about devotion expressing itself in active work. The spirit in this realm is going out to actively do deeds of service for the deity he/she is devoted too. In this realm the spirit travels back into earthly plane and into heaven to experiment with their own theories of God and creation. The fifth heaven is the true home of the soul of nearly all mankind. It is the most populated of all the heavens. All in those in this heaven are engaged in the present human evolution. Thus, as in everywhere else, the highest glory of the heavenly realms is found in service. Those who have accomplished their mental evolution are fountains from which flow strength for those who are still climbing.
Physical life is just one element of our existence, when we die, we pass to another form, with MANY other opportunities to refine our spirit. Once in heaven, the journeys will continue in the spirit world, through all the many heavens, until eventually we return back to where we came from, Mother Father God creator of all.

I have heard it said that death is the opposite of life, but I believe this to be a misunderstanding. If one believes in opposites, then physical death is the opposite of human birth and this is a progression of your spirit. Death is the gateway to our spiritualconscious self. There is no opposite of life. There is only continuation of life. In fact, Life is interwoven and interrelated between our human physical form and our spiritual form in a magnificent intricate weaving of thought, love and energies.
What happens when we die? How do we heal, learn and grow once our physical life has ended? Once we are in our spiritual form, we see who we are at our essence, when all the illusions that we built in our earthly life and the things we did are removed, we stand in the blinding light and love of the creator. We can become broken in our human lives. People can make horrible choices when they are broken. Their lives, all of our lives actually, are built around making sense of our pain in order to survive. When we pass to the other side, we are lovingly taken apart, healed and slowly put back together so that our experiences and choices can be seen with compassion and wisdom.
After our passing from physical form, when we are re-united with our Soul and the Creator we are home, we are valued, our human lives matter. Our experience, knowledge and understanding from our magnificent human lives are so very cherished.
We are given ample time to review and assess and evaluate our life based on those experiences. This time of review includes healing, atonement and many chances to explore what we created with our lives.
During this time of review, we are guided with love and compassion by our Soul, our Guides that have stayed with us throughout our life, and by our loved ones who were in human form when we were. We are asked to make an honest assessment of what transpired in our lives. After this review, we, as conscious Spirit forms, are given opportunities to grow and learn from the experiences of our human life. When the consequences of our actions in life become overwhelming and seem to swallow us up, our Creator, Our Soul, Our Loving guides will gently hold us and help us bring back to balance that which we have torn asunder. We may need to make amends, and that is up to us and our creator as to what that will be. The door will always be open to atonement, to learning and to growing into the highest potential of our Souls.
In many a mediumship reading, I have felt the new interests and learning some spirits embark on after physical life. Some are very curious to study the events of their lives that caused them pain. These spirits want to help those left behind to create something different and with healing. Some desire to explore and travel and enjoy things on earth they were not able to. Some return to the people they caused pain and damage to and work to bring healing and balance as guides or behind the scenes. It is often clear from these spirit messages that their own learning and growing is continuing, with the veil being pulled aside they remember the healing nurturing love they forgot when they were alive. The Message to us from spirit is to embrace yourself now in compassion and forgiveness. Allow yourself to be vulnerable and accepting of yourself in this moment. Do the best you can. You are important, you matter, just the way you are!
In Parts Three and Four of my series, we looked at the difference between a Medium and a Psychic reading and how you can recognize if you are potentially being scammed. We also have looked at ways to find an ethical Medium or Psychic. So how do you be sure to have the best reading possible?
It takes all of us! Yes, we all have to actively participate in the process. This starts with you doing your homework in finding the right Medium or Psychic that you feel connected to. You want to feel good about your choice, so you can trust your Reader and relax during the session. Any tension can have a negative outcome for your reading. It’s best to read any FAQ’s or instructions the Reader has listed on their website or provided you. Spending a few extra minutes reading how to enhance your reading and learning any rules you need to follow will only benefit you. Rules are there usually to help you have a good outcome for your reading.
I also want to mention a subject that’s sensitive. Please don’t “test” the Medium or Psychic. Most of us are very empathic and can feel this energy immediately. This will kill the reading. If you feel like you need to test your Medium or Psychic, I will say you have not found the right Reader for you yet, so I would highly recommend that you keep looking. Before booking a session, ask yourself if you fully trust this person before hiring them. Again, you want to go into a reading feeling confident with who you hired. Why waste your money and time, or ours?
Our job as Mediums or Psychics, is to deliver any information we receive during a session as clearly and accurately as possible. This takes a lot of work on our end. This work starts outside of your reading. We have prayer and meditation practices. Many of us have been on our own healing journey and continue with our own self-care routines. We also take time to further our education by working with mentors, taking classes or sitting in development circles, even those who are naturally gifted. Some of us will become certified. These are all hallmarks of an ethical Psychic Medium who won’t take advantage of you.
For a terrific reading, not only is it important for you and the Reader to do their part, but Spirit and your guides must do their part too! Believe it or not, there are better Spirit Communicators than others, just as there are those of us who communicate better in the physical world. This is one reason why Mediums will further their education, to learn how Spirit works with them. Some of us receive more literal details, while others receive more symbols, so it’s our job to learn what’s in our Spirit library, so we can deliver validations and messages as accurately as possible for you.
During your reading, you will want to be present and as grounded as possible. We usually receive pieces of information, so it’s important to be able to actively engage in the process. Readings are interactive, so if the Psychic makes a statement please respond accordingly. One of the best things to do and also one of the hardest, is to release expectations for your reading. My clients who remained open during their session seem to be the ones who have experienced the most healing or experienced the strongest connections during their sessions. I believe that is because Spirit knows what’s best for us and will give us messages that we need, not necessarily what we want to hear.

Are you looking for a good Psychic or Animal Communicator? One thing to know is that with a Psychic or Animal Communication Reading, a good Reader will tune into your energy or that of your living pet and be able to give you validations and either provide you intuitive guidance or answers for your questions. But this doesn’t mean we know EVERYTHING about you or your pet! We tune into your energy and like a radio receiver, we pick up pieces of information. Psychic readings should help you feel empowered or provide you with information that will help you. Some Psychics offer predictions, while others offer more life guidance using their intuition. Some use tools like Tarot or Oracle Cards to assist them, while many Readers use no tools during a reading. Which type of Psychic is best for you? It’s about what style you prefer and what you are comfortable with.
But what happens if you feel the reading is off? Or something isn’t quite right?
In Part Two of my “Before You Hire a Psychic Medium”, we learned about Medium readings and how to recognize when you are in a situation where you are being taken advantage of or even involved in a scam. So how does this look different with a Psychic Reading?
First of all, just as with a Medium Reading, you will want to make sure the Psychic is giving you validations and details that make sense to you. The details do not have to be 100% accurate, but you should be able to understand most of the information they are sharing. Also, are they asking you a lot of leading questions, like I discussed in Part Two of my series? If so, stop the reading and walk away. If they are using cards, pay attention to see if they are reading the descriptions of the cards or if they are also using their intuition. As long as you feel that the reading is helping you, this is a good sign that you are with an ethical Psychic.
But if you start to feel something like something isn’t right, pay attention. Again, the Psychic should never scare you during the reading. You should also never walk away from a reading feeling like there is no hope for your situation. You may not receive the answer you want, but you should receive some information that will help you heal, empower you or help identify how you can overcome any obstacles that may be getting in your way.
If a Psychic starts to share negative information with you and suggests that they can help you for more money, pay attention. Sometimes a Reader may initially get you in for a session for a really low price, but you may find them telling you that you need to come back and it will usually be for a good amount of extra money. In Part One; “Before You Hire a Psychic”, I discussed the ways you can find an ethical and accurate Medium or Psychic and how to avoid getting taken advantage of. But what if you do find yourself in a situation where your gut is telling you that something isn’t right? How can you be sure?
Remember, you should never feel scared after a reading and you should never be forced to come back for additional services that will cost you extra money. Even if you receive answers you did not want to hear, you should walk away from a session feeling inspired, given information that helps facilitate healing or like you had a connection to your loved ones in Spirit. You may even receive a prediction or two, but this, of course, depends on the type of reading you choose.
A Medium reading is where the Medium connects with your loved ones who have passed away and are in Spirit. Every Medium works differently, but if you are receiving validations and messages that make sense to you, then you are with an authentic Medium. There can be times when some of the details you receive will not make sense and that’s okay, as long as most of the information being presented in your reading resonates with you. If this is your first reading, your nerves might be in the way. This can make it hard to remember details. But rest assured that messages from Spirit are about love, never about fear. Once in a while you may receive a warning, but you should feel empowered by that information, not afraid. So if you start receiving information that makes you feel scared, speak up and stop the reading. Walk away if you need to.
I do want to mention that if you have experienced a recent loss, most Mediums recommend to wait anywhere from three to six months before scheduling a reading. There are many schools of thought for this, but I personally believe that it’s best to walk through your grief journey a little first. No matter how prepared we are for the passing of a loved one, we can still experience shock for many weeks to months after a death, and this can negatively impact the reading.
Another thing to keep in mind is that many Mediums do not guarantee that they will connect with a certain loved one in Spirit. They may have this listed on their website or Terms and Conditions. This means that if Aunt Sue shows up instead of Dad, the Medium is honoring Spirit by allowing the experience. This does not mean you are with a bad Medium! Who knows, Aunt Sue may have an important message for you. However, if you are feeling like the Medium is not connecting with any of your loved ones in Spirit, you can ask to stop the reading. This situation is rare, but it can happen. Ethical Mediums will know within minutes of the reading if they are not connecting and will usually offer a refund and end the session.

One way to tell if you are being taken advantage of during your reading is if the Medium is asking a lot of leading questions. For example, they may ask, “What did Aunt Sue look like?” And then say, “Oh I see that!”. A good Medium will make statements instead. They may say something like, “It looks like Aunt Sue had brown, straight hair and I see that she was slender. Does this make sense?”. Do you see the difference in the approach? One is asking a leading question, while the other is validating a statement. Again, every Medium works differently, so there may be variations of style, but it can be a red flag if you notice the Medium asking too many leading questions.
Another situation that can happen is that an unethical Medium may try to keep you coming back to see them. I remember when I first started as a Psychic Medium, a client (I’ll call her Kim) came in to see me. She wanted to inquire about her love life, but she appeared nervous, perhaps a little too nervous. As I do with all first time clients, I asked if she had ever had a reading. Kim told me that she had visited a Psychic a few years back. She found the Psychic on a street corner and decided to go in and have a reading. It had been Kim’s first time doing anything like this and, initially, she felt the session seemed to go well. The Psychic immediately picked up on a couple of details and Kim was hooked! However, later in the session, Kim was told that she had a spell placed on her. This “spell” was cast so love would elude Kim. Playing on her emotions, this Psychic offered to “remove” the spell, so true love would come. All for an additional fee of course, a substantial one.
A few years and hundreds of dollars later, Kim still had not met her soul mate. Kim was heartbroken. A reading should leave you feeling empowered, help you feel like you can take a step in the right direction or with a sense of peace. Even if you receive an answer you do not like or want to hear. If you have a Medium Reading, you should feel like you had a connection with your loved ones in Spirit. Most of the messages should also make sense to you. But you should never walk away from a reading feeling afraid or forced into seeing the Psychic again. Never!
So, how can you avoid being scammed like Kim? What do you look for when you are in need of a professional Medium or Psychic?
First step is to learn what type of reading service you wish to book and the difference in these services. For example, a Medium Reading is different from a Psychic Reading and each Reader will have their own style. Learning some of these details first, can help narrow down your search pretty quickly. Research grief or bereavement groups that offer a list of Mediums that they trust.

I wanted to discuss a very unusual topic this month. Given that the coronavirus and all its implications are currently all around us, I thought it was important to delve into the past to see how people centuries ago dealt with the difficulties of their time. What I wanted to talk to you about is the art of Pyromancy.
Pyromancy is the art of divination using fire. As the reader would stare into the flames, they would interpret the signs and patterns that they would see. Also, many times, different materials (bones, shells) were thrown into the fire to enhance this interpretation. This art goes back centuries as many civilizations have peered into the flames to connect to their gods or intuition to help solve a problem. During the Renaissance Pyromancy was also classified as one of the seven forbidden arts as it was thought to be too dangerous for their citizens to participate in.
Now remember, any tool that is used in divination, whether it be crystals, Tarot cards, tea leaves etc., is only used to occupy space in the Medium’s conscious mind. This is to allow their soul self or their intuition to interpret what they receive from Spirit. As I always say to my clients, my cards or crystals are not magical. It is only their vibrational energy that allows me to connect to my higher self or source to provide explanation or answers. Even going back as far as the Old Testament, fire was connected with divine intervention. For example the burning bush helped to guide Moses and the Israelites during a challenging time in their history. And, while we may not be facing the same challenges as the ancient Israelites, our world certainly has many challenges of its own right now.
If you would like to try Pyromancy on your own it is really much simpler than it seems. If you have a fire pit you could certainly connect with the flames that way or it can be as simple as lighting a candle. Just allow yourself to soften your gaze and stare into the flame. Once you light your fire source, allow yourself to settle into your body and be still. It’s easier if the room is darkened a little bit so the light does not interfere with the flame. Once you are in a centered place, allow yourself to connect with the fire. Look at the fire but don’t look at it. It’s almost as if you are having a daydream with your eyes open. Allow your gaze to softly settle into the flame and as you do take a deep breath and exhale any concerns you may have. After you exhale allow a question or concern to form in your mind. Send that question into the flame energetically and see what evolves. While you are connecting with the fire, bits of information will start to come to you. Don’t question them, don’t judge them. Just allow them to come. This information could be colors, feeling or just an awareness. Take a note of these observations and how they make you feel. The important thing is to not judge the information you are getting. Like anything else this does take a little practice. But each time you light the flame and connect with the fire you will feel yourself sinking more and more into your body and into your energetic self. By connecting with the fire and practicing Pyromancy you will be astonished at the questions that you are able to have answered.
